The pediatric transport team stabilizes, treats and transports children in the safest and quickest manner possible. The team is made up of registered nurses and respiratory therapists who work in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at the Jim Pattison’s Children’s Hospital. The team is supported by a pediatric intensivist either by phone, by video or in person. This specialized team does over 500 transports per year.
This team uses a variety of transportation vehicles to move kids in need, such as:
- Ambulances
- Helicopters
- Fixed-wing (airplane) services
