Neonatal Transport

There are teams of nurses and respiratory therapists located in both Regina and Saskatoon who transport babies that need extra medical help to a NICU.

Neonatal Transport Team

Some babies need extra medical help that only a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can provide.

There are teams of nurses and respiratory therapists located in both Regina and Saskatoon who transport babies that need extra medical help to a NICU. This can include babies who need:

  • Respiratory support
  • Testing
  • Developmental monitoring
  • Care during illness
  • Infection
  • Monitoring of growth

The neonatal transport team will transport your baby from the community hospital where they were born to a NICU. This team is supported by a NICU doctor. They can travel by road or air ambulance, depending on where you are located and the weather.

The neonatal transport team has specialized training to make sure your baby is well cared for during the trip. They have specialized equipment to provide the best care for your baby. Having your baby moved to another hospital can be frightening and confusing. Rest assured, when you arrive at the NICU, staff members will be there to help you.

There is a cost that comes along with transporting your baby. Please visit the links below for more information.
