Kids with cystic fibrosis often require specialized support for their breathing to support weight gain and to monitor growth. A talented team of specialists provide this type of care, including:
- Respirologist
- Pediatrician
- Physiotherapist
- Dietitian
- Social Worker
- Genetic Counsellor
- Respiratory Therapist
- Nurse Coordinator
- Psychiatrist
The program initially starts with newborn screening. Children and their families will meet with the team regularly in a clinic or outpatient (non-overnight) setting. For children requiring a hospital stay, the cystic fibrosis team will help to oversee treatment, including creating an appropriate care plan.
The program is accredited and supported by Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
