SPARC’s mission is to help children use their hearing and listening potential to communicate. Services are provided by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who works closely with Audiologists and other members of the hearing team to help meet the needs of families.
SPARC services include:
- Assessment,
- In person and virtual therapy
- Consultative supports
- Professional development to promote local capacity and integrate services close to home.
The SPARC Program can provide the following assistance to families:
- Helps parents understand the implications of hearing loss
- Helps parents adjust to use of amplification for their child
- Helps parents work effectively with their child to develop communication
- Provides ongoing evaluation of the child’s auditory and communicative development
- Provides opportunities to meet other parents of children with hearing loss
- Provides information regarding future educational opportunities
- Assists with the transition from SPARC to the school system
- Provides pre-surgical counselling for families whose children are candidates for cochlear implants
- Provides intensive (re)habilitation for children who use amplification and/or have cochlear implants
The SPARC Program is available to children aged 0-18 with a diagnosed permanent hearing loss and is available to children across Saskatchewan. For more information, please contact:

Referrals to SPARC are accepted from Audiologists and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Physicians in Saskatchewan. Families are encouraged to follow-up with their Audiologist or ENT if their child has diagnosed, permanent hearing loss and have not yet been referred to the program.
