The Government of Saskatchewan may provide financial assistance to eligible families for out-of-pocket expenses who are referred out of province for medical care for their child. This policy is in effect as of April 1, 2024. Please go to the Government of Saskatchewan website located here for more information.
What are the steps for our family to receive financial assistance?
- Your child will need to see a pediatrician, pediatric specialist, or specialist program to have an assessment.
- If your child is being referred out of the province to receive care, your doctor can complete a Prior Approval Travel Application Form.
- Your doctor will send the form to the Saskatchewan Provincial Head of Pediatrics who reviews the application. This form is then sent to the Ministry of Health.
- The Ministry of Health will review the information and provide a written response to you, if you are eligible, and the doctor who completed the form; this will include an expense reimbursement form.
