Trauma Resuscitation in Kids (TRIK) is a virtually hosted, one day course administered by the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP). The Saskatchewan pediatric trauma program is hosting two (2) virtual courses that are taking place Nov. 17, 2023 and Nov. 21, 2023 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saskatchewan has amongst the highest rate of traumatic injury in Canadian Children, with our rural and remote geography early assessment and stabilization is key to successful outcomes. TRIK is a simulations based course, designed to support providers in all settings with a specific focus for rural emergency care. Thirty-two (32) seats have been generously funded by the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation as part of the National Thistledown Foundation Children’s Hospital Grant. Twenty-four (24) seats have been allocated for physicians and eight (8) for allied health professionals. Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit will be provided.
There is approximately four hours of online pre-course work that is required prior to attending. The course will be pleased to introduce Pediatric Provincial Trauma Head, Dr. Kaveer Chatoorgoon, and Provincial Pediatric Trauma Nurse Navigator, Terra Dyky.
